Tropical Morning Smoothie Bowl

I've been meaning to get back to having smoothies for breakfast for quite some time now.  I actually have a back ground in holistic nutrition and when I was studying a few years back, I was obsessed with them.  I started each morning with a green smoothie.  You know why?  Because they made me feel Ah-mazing!  I used to struggle with so many issues, from overeating to sleep patterns, to stress and depression.  Green smoothies not only changed my health by what they were directly putting in my body, but they literally caused a chain reaction that also brought on other health benefits and it kept getting better and better.   So you would think knowing and having experienced this it would be easy to get back into it.  But between rushing everywhere these days and pure morning laziness, I haven't.  Until yesterday morning.  I woke up with a really swollen eye and had to also cancel my afternoon plans.  All of a sudden, my crazy busy day wasn't so busy anymore and I decided to take the time to make finally make a smoothie.

Because that's what it's really about in the end isn't it?  It's never really about having the time, but making the time for what matters to us.  We can either make excuses, or carve it out and make it happen.

And I'm so glad I made this happen!

I actually meant to make a green smoothie, but as I started pulling out my ingredients, I realized I was out of baby spinach.  Oh well!  I figured a fruit smoothie was better than no smoothie at all.  So I put the ingredients in my Vitamix and it came out a bit thicker than planned, even with the extra liquid I ended up adding.  That's when I had the idea to make it into a smoothie bowl, instead of pouring into a glass.  Mostly made of mango and bananas, topping it with coconut shreds was the perfect addition!

Tropical Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 1/2 frozen bananas
  • 1 cup frozen mangoes
  • 3-5 Tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1/4 cup orange juice (I didn't have any on hand so I used 1/4 tsp natural orange extract)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla rice milk
  • water

Pour all the ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth.  Add water as needed to achieve desired texture.  Pour into a bowl and top off with shredded coconuts and even sliced bananas.

Enjoy!

You know what the best part was, other than the awesome taste?  It stabilized my appetite and kept my energy levels balanced ALL day.  And that, is why you should give it a try and see how it raises your vibration too!

Much love,

Stephanie xx
